Xero setup and conversion

Xero set up properly, whether you are starting or switching

Was your Xero file set up for your business, or for the software's defaults? We set up new businesses in Xero, and convert existing ones from other accounting software, around how the business actually runs. The numbers are right from the start, and you are not paying to fix them later.

What goes wrong without it

A file can look fine and still be set up wrong

Reports run, invoices go out and the bank feed connects. None of that tells you the structure underneath is right.

The chart of accounts was never decided The default chart is a starting point, not an answer. If you run more than one location, service line or funding source, the chart and tracking categories decide what your reports can show you later.
Tax codes were accepted, not chosen Every account carries a default tax code. Codes nobody checked are how an activity statement comes back different from what you expected.
A conversion moved the data, not the setup Invoice templates, bank rules, repeating transactions and integrations are not migrated, because they are configuration, not data. They have to be rebuilt in the new file.
Bank feeds and payroll were connected, not configured A bank feed that connects is not the same as bank rules that code correctly. Payroll settings decide what reaches your super and STP reports.
What you get

A file built around how you actually work

For a new business, the right structure advised and set up before the first transaction
A conversion from MYOB, QuickBooks, other accounting software or spreadsheets, with your data brought across clean
A chart of accounts decided rather than defaulted, and tax codes checked
Bank accounts connected directly to Xero, and payroll working
Custom invoice templates and financial reports, and your other software connected, where you need them
A personalised review and training session on your own file, so you can run it with confidence
How it works

Three steps, in this order

1 Look at what you have first For a new business, that means the structure and registrations. For a conversion, it means your current file, looked at before anything moves, so the approach fits what is really in it.
2 Set up, or convert, the file Structure, chart of accounts, tax codes, bank feeds and payroll, set up to match how the business reports. In a conversion, whatever the move does not carry is rebuilt.
3 Show you how to run it A personalised review and training session on your own file. After that, you are not waiting on someone else to tell you how the business is going.
Questions we answer every week

Questions we are asked most

Which Xero Launch do I need? If your company and GST registration are still to be done, book Xero Launch with registration, and we lodge both for you. If they are already in place, Xero Launch sets up the file around the right structure. Both are for Australian businesses.
Is converting from other software part of setup? Yes. A business moving from MYOB, QuickBooks or spreadsheets converts with Xero Grow, and the setup is done as part of the move. A conversion carries your data but not your configuration, so templates, bank rules and integrations are rebuilt.
Can I set Xero up myself? You can, and Xero makes it easy to start. The part that is hard to undo is the structure. The chart of accounts, tax codes and tracking categories you choose on day one decide what your reports can tell you for years.
Do you work outside the Gold Coast? Yes. We are based on the Gold Coast and work with clients across Australia and New Zealand, online. The registration option in Xero Launch covers Australian company and GST registration.
